SCAR

While taking a break from their Trans-America Trail (TAT) adventure, the guys at Moto Photo Adventures decided to tackle the South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR) as a “gap trip”. Little did they know what a crazy ride this would turn out to be!!! Follow along at:

Created by Kris Cox, The South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR) loops through approximately 1,000 miles of rural South Carolina. Follow it, and you will see mountains, ocean, forests, countryside, state parks, historical sites, and quaint towns…all on a mix of paved and unpaved public roads designed to keep you as far off the beaten path as possible! The SCAR also connects to both the Smoky Mountains 500 Trail and the Trans-America Trail (TAT). Check out the website at: https://scadventureroute.wixsite.com/. Interactive maps and GPS files (tracks) are available on the “Download” page. And don’t forget to join the SCAR Facebook group to interact with other adventure riders, get status updates, and read ride reports: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SCAdv. Many thanks to Kris Cox (founder of the SCAR) and Dana Brown (www.strykeradv.com) for all their help, encouragement, and advice.

The Official stages of the S.C.A.R.

Riding together on this journey are good friends Chris Smith of www.chrisandcami.com, Jason Bennett of www.docentprodigy.com, and Steve Roos of www.ashcraftstudio.com. Having three photographers on one trip could be a disaster. Or it could just be brilliant!!! Follow along as these three amigos seek out local cuisine, turn strangers into friends, capture creative images, get into all kinds of trouble, and pretty much act like 10-year-olds in grown men’s bodies!

A few of the interesting stops along the way.
