Mexico

Departing from Charleston, SC, cutting across the southern United States to Texas, then looping down through the eastern half of Mexico and back, this was a solo journey but a “team” adventure! After riding and filming each day’s journey, I would upload the footage each night for Jason to edit back home. We ran into snags with slow WiFi at times. But it was a fun goal to shoot for each night!

Trinity, my trusty Honda CB500X, had a fantastic experience! While zipping across SC, GA, FL, MS, LA, and TX, we stayed with friends and fellow riders who are on a network known as Bunk-a-Biker. We paused near the boarder of Mexico at McAllen, Texas, to photograph some amazing wildlife. But the real “adventure” started when we crossed into Mexico at Reynosa.

I had friends waiting for me in Monterrey for our first night in Mexico. We had so much fun and they gave me such great advice for the trip ahead. From there, we traveled in a sweeping clockwise tour of eastern and central Mexico. We rode down the eastern side of the Sierra Madre Orientale mountain range, enjoying the lush vegetation of the cloud forests and temperate climate of the coast. Gomez Farias and Xilitla were great highlights. Then we took the famed Hwy 120, loving the “twisties” up and over the mountains to reach the Mexican Central Plateau. San Miguel de Allenda and Zacatecas were incredible! Circling back towards Monterrey, we stopped at Real de Catorce, the amazing old mining town perched some 9,000 feet in the sky! Eventually I reconnected with my new friends in Monterrey who gave us a fond farewell before Trinity and I high-tailed it back home.

It was an AMAZING adventure!!! We highly recommend Mexico as a travel destination for motorcyclists!
