In this episode, Steve, Jason, and Chris pick up the TransAmerica Trail in Maggie Valley, where they left off in Stage 1. Riding some famous twisty mountain roads along the Blue Ridge Parkway, crossing over the high passes of Smokey Mountain National Park, and heading into the beautiful valley of Cades Cove, they stopped for lunch in Townsend, TN. They also announced availability of their brand new #motophotoadventures t-shirts and stickers at https://www.redbubble.com/people/chrisandcami. DESCRIPTION:
The TransAmerica Trail is a patchwork of fire roads, farm roads, dirt trails, and scenic byways that transects America from the Atlantic coast in the east, to the Pacific coast in the west. Check out the map at: https://tinyurl.com/ybnlrmh7.
The concept of the TransAmerica Trail was originally scouted and mapped by Sam Carrero at www.transamtrail.com. Much as I would have liked to use his original maps, the system created by GPS Kevin at www.gpskevinadventurerides.com worked better with our vision for this trip. There are a number of free options out there as well. But Sam and Kevin are typically the two options most adventure riders go with when riding the TAT.
Joining me on this journey are my good friends Jason Bennett of www.docentprodigy.com and Steve Roos of www.ashcraftstudio.com. Having three photographers on one trip could be interesting! How many times would we have to stop to “get that shot”? Would we ever make it to our destination?!? I’ll be doing the bulk of the filming along the way. As with my Moto Photo Mexico trip, Jason will be using his mad skills as the video editor for the Moto Photo TAT. If you haven’t seen it, check out my adventure through Mexico at: https://tinyurl.com/y9mvyzgv. Aside from his photography skills, Steve will be providing his big personality and fun sense of humor for comedic relief!
Being self-employed, we are tackling the TAT in multiple stages. The first stage found us traversing the eastern spur from Morehead City NC to Maggie Valley NC, dipping into TN along the way. Episodes 1 – 7 covered Stage 1. This second stage covers our return to Maggie Valley, where we continued along the TAT from where we left off. We encounter everything from the most amazing “twisties”, to slippery water-crossings, from scenic back-country roads, to treacherous boulder-strewn trails. Stage 2 starts with Episode 8. We’ve got some great episodes coming!!!
We hope you’ll join us and follow along on this epic journey! We’d also love your questions, tips, and suggestions of places not to be missed along the route. Just leave them in the comments below. Please help us out by giving each video a “Thumbs Up”, clicking the Bell icon to receive notifications, and Subscribing to the channel. Thanks for joining us on this epic adventure!!! 🙂
